The Biomedical approach to Autism recognizes Autism Spectrum Disorder as a biological, physical illness that is treatable!
According to the Biomedical model, ASD (Autism, Aspergers, PDD) is a multi-system breakdown resulting in metabolic, immunologic, neurologic and digestive disorder that often affect the mind (hence MINDD).
It is the collective opinion of MINDD Foundation that Biomedical intervention requires a specially trained physician with a strong background in biochemistry to successfully treat an ASD child. At this point in time we recommend physician’s who have trained with one of two very experienced bodies in the field of ASD biomedicine; Defeat Autism Now! and The Pfeiffer Treatment Center.
Biomedical intervention focuses on gut healing, nutritional medicine, dietary intervention and detoxification. Clinical experience has shown that each ASD child is unique and that an individualized approach yields the best results. Therefore, great emphasis is placed on diagnostic tools such as hair, blood and urine analysis. Environment and genetics are also assessed.
Biomedical treatment can also effectively reduce or eliminate symptoms associated with asthma, allergies, anxiety, IBS, schizophrenia, cancer and all disease associated with oxidative, weakened immunity and cellular malnutrition.
Success in biomedical treatment lies largely with the parent or caregiver who serves as clinician administering supplements, monitoring diet and observing what works. The experienced practitioner places great emphasis on treating the individual as clinical research is proving that each patient presents with very individualised symptoms and issues.
MINDD also recommends other treatments in conjunction with biomedical intervention (see “Treatments” on menu bar), but firmly recommends that initial treatment is biomedical.
