Longitudinal analysis reveals high prevalence of Epstein-Barr virus associated with multiple sclerosis

Summary: A 2022 cohort study puts Epstein Barr Virus (EBV) as the leading cause of multiple sclerosis (MS) after testing the hypothesis on over 10 million adults. This study will be a catalyst for more research into the possible treatment and prevention of EBV as a way to prevent MS, as well as the role of other virus’s on autoimmune conditions.
