Jo Whitton
Jo Whitton lives in country Far North Queensland, Australia, with her family, where she runs her business from home and home schools her four children. She has always loved to cook, and grew up in a family where wholefood cooking was the norm. Because of food intolerances, Jo began experimenting with allergy friendly cooking when her children were very young. She began her blog, Quirky Cooking, in December 2008, as a place to share her recipes and tips for healthy cooking, especially for those with diet challenges. Jo’s best selling cookbook, Quirky Cooking, was released in May, 2014, and has been very popular with those wanting creative, healthy, Thermomix recipes. Jo uses real food ingredients, and her recipes are a life-saver for those with food allergies or intolerances. The book was recently awarded the “Winner of the Gourmand Awards Best Corporate Cookbook – Australia” and has sold over 30,000 copies. Jo’s passion is teaching families how to transition to a healthy, gut friendly, traditional diet, without being overwhelmed. She speaks at seminars, on podcasts and on webinars, teaches private and public cooking classes, and coaches via Skype. Jo’s Quirky Cooking blog has recently been ranked as the most popular blog in Australia and New Zealand as judged by online blog directory Catablog, and her near 200,000 followers are testament to her popularity. Jo is currently 8 months into the GAPS* diet (Gut and Psychology Syndrome) along with her husband and four children and regularly documents her progress and new recipe developments on her social media platforms. Through her blog Jo shares evidence of her beliefs that healthy eating doesn’t have to be boring and that food intolerances and allergies don’t have to make life difficult. Her purpose through ‘Quirky Cooking’ is to help open people’s eyes to the possibility of wholesome food that tastes great, is easy and fun to make, and meets the needs of those with diet challenges. Jo’s down to earth, positive approach to life and food has made her well-loved by her many followers.
