Autoimmune Paleo Ground Turkey

By Charlotte Carr

Serves: 8
Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: NA

Ingredients:

2 lbs ground turkey

3 tbsp apple cider vinegar

3 tbsp coconut aminos

1-2 tbsp ghee

½ an onion, diced

2 cloves garlic, crushed

Fresh herbs (basil, oregano, thyme, and/or sage)

Salt and pepper to taste

Method:

1. Heat your ghee in a large pan over medium-high heat before adding your onion and garlic and sauteing for 2-3 minutes.

2. Add the ground turkey, breaking it up, and distributing evenly throughout the pan. Stir continuously for about 10 minutes or until it is almost fully cooked.

3. Add in your apple cider vinegar, coconut aminos, fresh herbs, and salt and pepper to taste.

4. Cook everything together for another minute before taking it off the heat and serving.

Tips:

Health benefits:
Overall: this meal, like any autoimmune paleo recipe, assists in reducing inflammation of the gut, helps to heal the gastrointestinal tract, and more generally reduces overall inflammation.
Turkey: contains vitamin B12, which assists in red blood cell formation, and zinc and iron, which boost immunity. Also contains tryptophan which is an amino acid essential for the production and maintenance of the body’s proteins, muscles, enzymes, and neurotransmitters.
Apple cider vinegar: high in acetic acid, anti-bacterial, may help lower blood sugar levels, and may improve heart health.
